The renewable energy market is a growing industry worldwide. SBS pitch and yaw bearing solutions support critical requirements in a variety of systems, including high and low wind speed; land based or offshore; from 200 kW to 5.0 MW. Four-point and eight-point bearings allow turbine blades to be indexed or positioned to optimize blade angle, depending on wind speed.
We apply engineering expertise to best meet critical performance requirements and industry regulations with the most economical designs.
Wind
SBS have inspected a large quantity of failed wind turbine pitch slew bearings due to our neutral position in the market and our slew bearing know how. This coupled with our strong metallurgical experience and knowledge of manufacturing techniques provides a unique level of support for large clients that need to raise issues with the OEM.
We have inspected a variety of spare pitch and yaw slew bearings and assisted clients with storage and lubrication requirements. We liaise with the factory for critical items such as improved cage design, coating process, raceway geometry and hardening optimisation to avoid some of the known problem areas.
Solar
SBS have supplied slew drives for solar arrays and are in the process of bidding on large solar farm tenders. We offer custom colours, right drive, left drive or double drive with or without brake. Driven by hydraulic motors or DC/AC motors to suit requirements.
